Midlands & Marches Ancestry is based in Shrewsbury, a medieval market town in Shropshire, England.
It offers research into families living in the counties of Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Cheshire, although other areas of England and Wales can be covered by prior agreement. We have particular expertise in researching families living in the south western corner of the Black Country, centred around the towns of Dudley and Stourbridge and their environs.
We use a variety of online, microfilm and electronic indexes and transcriptions to speed up preliminary research and ensure that we make best use of our time at record offices. All information is checked against original documents, or filmed copies of these, and cross-checked against information from other documentary sources wherever possible. We’ll provide you with a detailed report, listing the documents we searched and what we found, any caveats to the research (e.g. poor legibility of the documents) and what other research could be undertaken in the future.
To complement the research service, Midlands & Marches Ancestry offers to source current or archive photographs of churches, gravestones or other relevant locations.
The amount of research carried out by Midlands & Marches Ancestry is completely within your control. We offer a look up service to verify a specific event, such as a baptism, marriage or a census entry, or we can undertake detailed research into the life of an individual, a family, a branch or the whole tree. For detailed research, we agree an initial budget with you then work within that limit so you don’t receive an unexpected bill at the end.
